Fishing

No matter what you like to fish for, you can catch them on the river! Early summer is excellent for northern and walleye. Pan fish can be caught all season. Late summer provides some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the area. You can hook into Muskie and largemouth bass too. You can even see fishermen bow hunting for buffalo fish. We have been here for over 35 years and can direct you to our favorite fishing spots or you can find your own! Want an expert to guide you? Check our links for area fishing guides. They can take you on the river or to other area lakes.

Duck Hunting:

The end of September and beginning of October mark duck hunting season in Minnesota. There are plenty of places to set up your blind and enjoy some time on the river. You may even have time to catch a fish or two. Get your hunting party together and stay with us.

Boat Launch:

Want to bring your own boat? No problem, Boat launching and docking is included in the price of your stay.

(No personal watercraft, jet ski’s or ATV’s are allowed)

Boating, Canoeing & Kayaking

The Mississippi corridor allows miles of bays and undeveloped shoreline to explore. Since we are located 5 miles north of the paper mill dam in Brainerd, the slow moving current is easy to navigate. Water clarity in the main channel is a brackish or tea color and the bays are clear and very much lake like. You can access two lakes, one being Rice Lake, which hosts a park and a clean sandy swim beach.

Wild rice grows along the shore and is harvested in August. It is not unusual to see a beaver swimming past the dock, a bald eagle soaring overhead or a whitetail deer sipping from the water’s edge. An occasional black bear and wolf have also been sited along remote areas of the river. Get on the water and see the sights for yourself.

Canoes and kayaks can be checked out by the hour, boats can be rented by the day or week.

If you want a guided experience, you can book a trip through www.cyclepathpaddle.com.
