Boating, Canoeing & Kayaking
The Mississippi corridor allows miles of bays and undeveloped shoreline to explore. Since we are located 5 miles north of the paper mill dam in Brainerd, the slow moving current is easy to navigate. Water clarity in the main channel is a brackish or tea color and the bays are clear and very much lake like. You can access two lakes, one being Rice Lake, which hosts a park and a clean sandy swim beach.
Wild rice grows along the shore and is harvested in August. It is not unusual to see a beaver swimming past the dock, a bald eagle soaring overhead or a whitetail deer sipping from the water’s edge. An occasional black bear and wolf have also been sited along remote areas of the river. Get on the water and see the sights for yourself.
Canoes and kayaks can be checked out by the hour, boats can be rented by the day or week.
